WILHELM STEKEL, M.D.
Dr. Stekel, noted Viennese psychiatrist, was Director of Medicine at the University of Vienna for sixteen years. He was a close friend and one of the earliest pupils of Dr. Sigmund Freud, and later his assistant. He was editor of the first psychoanalytical periodical ever published, the Zentralblatt für Psychoanalyse, which he conducted with Dr. Freud and Dr. Adler, although eventually there developed differences of theory among the three men.
Dr. Stekel has long been recognized as one of the world’s foremost authorities on psychoanalysis and psychotherapy. His books include Peculiarities of Behavior, Frigidity in Women, Impotence in the Male, Sexual Aberrations, Sadism and Masochism, A Primer for Mothers, Bi-Sexual Love, The Homosexual Neurosis, Technique of Analytical Psychotherapy, and many other basic writings. His works are recognized as authoritative and standard in the field of human behavior.

Misc. Quotes
(Interesting or pithy quotes from the book)
“The sale of this volume is restricted to the medical and legal professions, to ministers and educators, and to adult students of the psychological, biological and sociological sciences.”
“The courts of our country have gone on record as sanctioning rational sex education. They did so in the Stopes case (United States District Court), as well as in the Dennett case (United States Circuit Court of Appeals). In the latter case Federal Judge Augustus N. Hand stated: ‘The old theory that information about sex matters should be left to chance has greatly changed . . . It may reasonably be thought that accurate information, rather than mystery and curiosity, is better in the long run and is less likely to occasion lascivious thoughts, than ignorance and anxiety.'”
